After its first launch in 2015, the Biomedical Research Academy (BioMeRA) for Secondary School Students has become one of the annual major events of the School for promoting our BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme.  BioMeRA provides secondary school students a holistic experience of being a biomedical research student in the campus of CUHK. This year, a total of 12 Form 4 and Form 5 students were admitted to the programme between 6 July and 18 August 2017.

As in previous years, participating students were supervised by our Principal Investigators as Research Mentors and were guided to conduct biomedical research on topics related to cancer, stem cells, neuro-logical diseases, vascular, reproductive and developmental biology. With a view to broadening students' exposure and enriching their experience, a mini-lecture on the topic "Genomics – The Brave New World of Medicine", a workshop entitled "How does your heart beat?", demonstrations in the Dissecting Laboratory, as well as a company visit to the Hong Kong Science Park were arranged during the programme period. Participating students were awarded certificates upon satisfactory completion of the programme.
