The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) continued to organize the SBS Summer Research Internship Programme for medical students between June and August this year. Through this Programme, participating students were arranged to engage in actual research projects and to acquire practical research experience. A total of 31 Year 1 and Year 2 medical students were selected for the Programme under the supervision of 18 investigators of our School this year.

Similar to previous years, the School arranged for the participants a 2-day Laboratory Safety Course conducted by the University Laboratory Safety Office and a tour of the School's Core Laboratory Facilities before the commencement of the Programme, so to ensure students' full awareness of the importance of laboratory safety. The Programme was successfully concluded by a lunch gathering held on 25 August 2017 where participating students were invited to share their experience and study findings in the eight-week attachment.
