In order to better respond to the fast-changing education environment and to continually encourage excellence in teaching and learning, the School of Biomedical Sciences provided the following professional development opportunities for its members in summer 2017:

• The Undergraduate Education Office organized an eight-week dissection workshop for our teaching staff members between 5 June and 25 July 2017. Based on the curriculum of the Medical Year Two course “Human Structure I”, the workshop mainly focused on the practical dissecting skills, the anatomy of whole body dissection and the anatomical structures. It not only provides our teaching members with both contextual references and clinical relevance of the dissection tasks, but also emphasizes on how to facilitate interactive dissection teaching.
• Our Teaching and Learning Unit co-organized a Workshop on e-learning tools with the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) on 18 July 2017, in response to the increasing trend in the application of e-learning. The Workshop aimed to equip our teaching staff with the fundamental skills in using the new features of the Blackboard and to provide them with the latest information on the e-learning courseware development.

Through these continued efforts in promoting innovative pedagogical teaching and new insights from different experts in education, our School could reach another level of teaching and learning excellence.
