Activities and Outreach Events for the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme

The BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme (BSc Programme) Team participated in or organized various activities between May and August 2021, including:

Programme Exploration Day for 2021 JUPAS Applicants on 26 May 2021: This is an annual event organized by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA), CUHK. Prospective JUPAS applicants who had selected the relevant CUHK programmes in their JUPAS application were arranged to join the event. It comprised a demonstration of Infertility and In Vitro Fertilization by Prof Ellis K.L. Fok, SBS and an online admission talk and programme consultation sessions delivered by Dr. Ann S.N. Lau, Programme Director of BSc in Biomedical Sciences.

Academic Counselling Session for Mainland students on 13 August 2021: This is an official event organized by the Registration and Examinations Section, Registry, CUHK. Prospective students from Mainland China admitted to CUHK under the Science Stream who had to declare their choice of major subject in the Faculty of Science or Medicine participated in an online admission talk and programme consultation delivered by Prof. Zhao Hui and Dr. Ann Lau. Online admission interviews were also arranged to students who declared our BSc programme as Major.

Career Talk by Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, CUHK on 28 June 2021: Students of the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme attended a career talk delivered by Prof. Jacqueline P.W. Chung and Prof. David Y.L Chan. from Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, CUHK. This talk provided insights to students who were interested in pursuing further studies in the field of Genetic Counselling and Reproductive Medicine and Embryologist.

Orientation Camp for Freshmen organized by Biofortis on 19 to 21 August 2021: The Organizing Committee of Orientation Camp organized an informative session with interactive activities for freshmen to assist them to adapt to university life and get to know with their fellow classmates as well as senior students.

Academic Counselling Session for new full-time undergraduate students on 24 August 2021: Newly admitted undergraduate students attended the counselling session arranged by the Registration and Examinations Section, Registry, CUHK. Course selection, exemption issues and other related information were introduced. Sharing sessions by alumni, and introduction by Learning Enhancement Officer, Office of Student Affairs (OSA) were also arranged, with ice-breaking session which enabled the new and current students to mingle with each other.
