Following the visit to the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) in March 2016, a delegation from the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences of Monash University, Australia comprising Prof. Christina Mitchell, Academic Vice-President and Dean, Prof. Ross Coppel, Senior Deputy Dean/Deputy Dean (Research) and Dr. Svetozar Kovacevic, Director of Research paid another visit to SBS on 12 May 2016. This was one of the stops of their visit to Faculty of Medicine and Division of Biomedical Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) between 11 and 13 May 2016.

During their visit to SBS, the delegation was arranged to meet with Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS cum Executive Director of the Institute of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM), members of the Stem Cell and Regeneration (SCR) Thematic Research Progam of SBS including Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee (Chief) and Prof. Feng Bo, Prof. Jack C.Y. Cheng, Clinical Director of iTERM and Prof. Arthur F.T. Mak, member of the Management Committee of iTERM. During the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the research development themes planned for iTERM and to the latest development of stem cell research at SBS and iTERM, respectively. The delegates were guided to tour the Core Laboratories and the Animal Holding Core located at Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building immediately after the meeting. On 13 May 2016, with Prof. Andrew Coats, Academic Vice-President and Director, Monash Warwick Alliance joining in the delegation, Prof. Chan Wai-yee led the delegation to visit the Biotechnology Cluster of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and to meet with Dr. Daniel Lee, the Head of the Cluster.

Shortly afterwards, Prof. Peter Currie, Director of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) of Monash University visited SBS on 28 June 2016. He was again warmly welcomed by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Prof. Jack Cheng and Prof. Arthur Mak, and was briefed on the latest development of stem cell research in SBS and iTERM, the support for clinical trials in CUHK and iTERM, and the setup of Biomedical Engineering (BME) under the framework of iTERM. In the meeting, members of our SCR Program including Prof. Kenneth Lee, Prof. Feng Bo, Prof. Jiang Xiaohua, Prof. Kingston K.L. Mak and Prof. Wan Chao, together with the representatives from iTERM shared respectively the latest research works on stem cell and regenerative medicine. The visit was rounded up with a guided tour of our School's Core Laboratories and the Animal Holding Core.

The visits have not only strengthened our School's academic network with the higher education sector in Australia, but also consolidated the foundation for pursuing more solid collaborations in the near future, especially when the ARMI has been identified as one of the strategic partners on regeneration and development.
