Biography

Dr Isabel Hwang  (黃水珊) serves as Assistant Dean (Student Support) and a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine. She obtained her BSc and MSc degrees at the University of London. As a PhD student at the University of Hong Kong, conducting her doctoral research and teaching undergraduate courses at the same time, Isabel developed a strong interest in physiology education. Since joining CUHK, she has devoted considerable time to teaching a wide range of physiology subjects, such as general, cardiovascular and renal physiology. She is also dedicated to creating innovative pedagogical strategies and topic-specific courseware and micro-modules to facilitate students’ e-learning. In recognition of her contribution to teaching and learning, Isabel was awarded the Faculty of Medicine’s Education Award in 2016. Her interest currently lie in bioethical education in the preclinical curriculum and she hopes to be part of the small team of people who can lay the foundations for real progress in this area. In 2019, she received a CUHK–Columbia University Master of Science in Bioethics Scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Bioethics at Columbia University.
