Prof. John E. Ladbury, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Leeds, United Kingdom, visited the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) on 8 June 2016.
Prof. Ladbury was warmly welcomed by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS, Prof. Fung Kwok-pui, Associate Director (Academic Administration) and Programme Director of BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme, Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Managing Director of Core Laboratories and Chief of Stem Cell and Regeneration (SCR) Thematic Research Program, Prof. Franky L. Chan, Chief of Cancer and Inflammation (C&I) Thematic Research Program, as well as Prof. Andrew M.L. Chan and Prof. Wan Chao, members of C&I and SCR Programs, respectively. A brief introduction on the School's formation and the Thematic Research Programs was given to Prof. Ladbury during the meeting, followed by a tour of the Core Facilities at Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.
This was the first time that our School was connected with University of Leeds, as coordinated by the Office of Academic Links, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The visit laid down a good foundation for building up mutual understanding between the two institutions, and also enabled us to explore potential education and research collaborations in the future.
