Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Pro-vice-Chancellor, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) paid a visit to The University of Copenhagen (UC), Denmark and The University of Oslo (UiO), Norway in late June 2019. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the three institutions to establish the Hong Kong-Nordic Research Network. Prof. Albert H.H. Cheung, Research Assistant Professor of SBS also took part in the visit.
On 24th and 27th June 2019, Prof. Chan signed respectively, the MOU with Prof. Ulla Wewer, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UC, and Prof. Svein Stølen, Rector/President of UiO. Apart from signing the collaborative agreement, several meetings were conducted to explore in-depth collaborations in education and research among the three founding universities.
Through the formal establishment of this Hong Kong-Nordic Research Network, a series of activities, including annual meetings in each of the founding universities will be organized. An international anti-ageing conference in the Nordic Centre Fudan University, China will be held in the summer of 2020, along with the proposed 1st annual meeting to be held in CUHK. Furthermore collaborations on student exchange among the universities are undergoing.
