Prof. René Rüttimann of Zurich University of Applied Sciences and members of Swiss Biotechnet from leading Swiss universities of applied sciences visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 20 April 2012. The delegation met with Prof. Henry N.C. Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, representatives from our School including Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, School Director, Prof. Cho Chi-Hin, Associate Director (Research), Prof. Christopher H.K. Cheng, Director of Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology Ltd. and Chief of our Reproduction, Development and Endocrinology Program, Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Chief of Stem Cell & Regeneration Program, as well as representatives from the School of Life Sciences.
During the meeting, Prof. Cho and Prof. Lee gave presentations on "Peptides targeting tumor blood vessels for cancer diagnosis and therapy" and "Small molecule, Programin, can be used to inhibit liver fibrosis", respectively. Prof. Chan and Prof. Lee joined the luncheon hosted by Prof. Henry Wong after the meeting.
This visit has built a good foundation for establishing academic collaborations in research and student exchange between the two parties in the future.
