A delegation led by Prof Urban Lendahl, Vice-Chairman and Professor of Genetics, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Karolinska Institutet (KI), Sweden, and Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine 2012 visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 18 April 2013. Organized by the Office of Academic Links, the delegation comprising Kenneth R. Chien, Professor of Cardiovascular Research, Department of Cell Molecular Biology and Department of Medicine, and Dr. Katarina Drakenberg, Senior Administrative Officer, Faculty Office, Research and Doctoral Education, was arranged to meet with Prof. Fanny M.C. Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, CUHK, Prof. Chan Kai-Ming, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine, and our School members Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee and Prof. Wan Chao. During the meeting, the visitors were given a presentation on the Stem Cell and Regenerative Technology (SMART) Programme and discussed the opportunities for joint collaboration in various fields under the Programme.
Following the visit last year, the KI delegation visit allows the University and the School to further strengthen the academic linkage and scientific exchanges with institution in Europe, and to promote long term collaboration in research areas of mutual interests.
