A delegation led by Prof.dr.ir Antonius van der Steen, Head of Biomedical Engineering, the Rotterdam Erasmus Medical Center (Erasmus MC) of the Netherlands, visited our School on 8 May 2013. The visitors were warmly welcomed by Prof. Anthony T.C. Chan, Associate Dean (External Affairs) and Chair of Clinical Oncology Department, Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences. After the meeting, they were guided to tour the Core Facilities and Animals Holding Facilities at Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.
The Erasmus MC is the largest and the most versatile university medical centers in the Netherlands. The organization comprises of one Medical Faculty and three university hospitals, and over 50 departments. The visit deepened the mutual understanding of the two parties, and at the same time, laid down a good foundation for the future collaborations in terms of research and education. Indeed, the Erasmus MC has planned to pay a follow-up visit to our School in mid September 2013.
