Prof. Zhang Yaping, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) led a delegation comprising members of Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ) of CAS to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 5 March 2012. During the visit, Prof. Zhang and the delegation members were arranged to meet with Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), Prof. C.H. Cho, Associate Director (Research), Prof. Kwok-Pui Fung (Administration), Prof. Michael S.C. Tam, Associate Director (Undergraduate Education) and Prof. Yung Wing-Ho, Chief of Neuro-degeneraion, -development & Repair Program to learn the latest development of and the major research areas undertaken by our School. After the meeting, the visitors were guided to tour around the core laboratories and research facilities available in the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.
Apart from visiting our School, the delegation also met with the Senior Management of CUHK including Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, President and Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Jack C.Y. Cheng and Prof. Henry N.S. Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, representatives of the Faculty of Medicine including Prof. Fok Tai-Fai, Dean of Medicine and Prof. Dennis Y.M. Lo, Associate Dean (Research). In their respective capacities as Director and Associate Director of KIZ-CUHK Joint Laboratory of Bio-resources and Molecular Research in Common Diseases, Prof. Michael Tam of SBS and Prof. Nelson L.S. Tang of Department of Chemical Pathology briefed the visitors on the recent developments of the Joint Laboratory.
