The Third Military Medical University and CUHK School of Biomedical Science Joint Symposium on Cancer & the 5th International Forum on Cancer Research and Drug Discovery was held successfully on 2 November 2012 at the Southwest Hospital, Third Military Medical University, Chongqing, China.
Co-organized by Prof. Bian Xiu-wu, Director of Institute of Pathology, Southwest Hospital, The Third Military Medical University and Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences, the symposium covered three areas including "Molecular Biology of Cancer and Clinical Interrelationship", "Clinical Studies on Cancer Treatments and Biomarkers" and "Molecular Mechanism of Cancer and Tumor Microenvironment". Apart from our School Director, other School members including Prof. Kung Hsiang-fu, Academician, Prof. C.H. Cho, Associate Director (Research), Prof. Franky L. Chan, Chief of Cancer & Inflammation Program, Prof. Andrew M.L. Chan and thematic associate member Prof. Poon Wai-Sang were invited to give talks on respective sessions. Prof. Franky L. Chan also served as the Associate Organizer and Session Chair of the symposium. The programme book of the joint symposium can be viewed HERE.
Further to the last visit of Prof. Bian in March 2012, the joint symposium laid down a strong foundation for deepening collaboration between the Third Military Medical University and our School.
