Led by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), a 8-member delegation comprising Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan, Prof. Albert H.H. Cheung, Prof. Feng Bo, Prof. Kingston K.L. Mak, Prof. Xia Yin, Prof. Zhao Hui and Mr. Chan Chi-ho of our School visited Chongqing Medical University, China (CQMU) between 11 and 13 November 2014.
During the visit, representatives from College of Laboratory Medicine (CLM), CQMU and our School shared their latest research findings in various topics and explored the possible areas for research cooperation between the two institutions. In addition to scientific exchange, Prof. Chan also signed on behalf of the School a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Summer Undergraduate Research Training Programme (Training Programme) with CLM, CQMU. Prof. Zhao Hui of our School and Prof. Zhou Qin of CLM, CQMU will serve as the Coordinator for the Training Program, respectively. Under the agreement, suitable undergraduate students from CLM, CQMU will be identified to receive research training in summer at individual laboratories of SBS. Indeed, in the summer of 2014, the CLM, CQMU already sent 5 undergraduate students to SBS to receive research training.
The visit and the signing of MOU have not only tightened the academic bondage between the two institutions, but also established a formal partnership for supporting the training of students and research development for both parties.
