The 4th Retreat of the Max Planck-GIBH Centre for Regenerative Biomedicine (MGCRB) & CUHK-MPI-GIBH-CRMH Joint Symposium for Stem Cell and Molecular Medicine

The 4th Retreat of the Max Planck-GIBH Centre for Regenerative Biomedicine (MGCRB) & CUHK-MPI-GIBH-CRMH Joint Symposium for Stem Cell and Molecular Medicine was successfully held at the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 30 November and 1 December 2023.
The welcoming address was given by Prof. Wai-yee Chan, Li Ka Shing Professor of Biomedical Sciences of SBS and Pro-Vice-Chancellor / Vice-President (Strategic Developments) of CUHK, followed by opening remarks from Prof. Thomas Braun, Co-Director of MPI Bad Nauheim, Prof. Duanqing Pei, Academic-Director of CRMH and Prof. Andrew M. Chan, Director of SBS, respectively. Eight delegates from the Max Planck Institutes, nine delegates from the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Health (CRMH) & Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory (GZL), Principal Investigators from SBS, Department of Paediatrics and the Institute for Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine (iTERM), CUHK participated in the event, and shared and exchanged their research findings and experiences in the areas of stem cell, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. After concluding the scientific program, Prof. Guangjin Pan, Deputy-Director of GIBH, delivered the closing remarks.
Before the start of sharing sessions, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between SBS and the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (MPI-HLR) was conducted. The MoU was signed by Prof. Thomas Braun, Co-Director of MPI-HLR and Prof. Andrew M. Chan, Director of SBS. The signing of the MoU not only formed a sound foundation for pursuing academic and research collaborations with the MPI-HLR in the near future, but also signified an extension of the long-term partnership between SBS and GIBH, CAS.
