The Chinese University of Hong Kong 香港中文大學

Coordinated by our School members, two group research proposals have been selected for the Research Grants Council (RGC) Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) 2016-17. Prof. Huang Yu, Associate Director (Research) of our School, obtained a total of HK$6.8 million for the collaborative project with Hong Kong Baptist University and The University of Hong Kong titled "A Multi-disciplinary Study on the Beneficial Effects of PPARD in Physical Exercise Against Diabetic Vascular Complications: Cellular Crosstalk and Energy Metabolism". In addition, Prof. Lee Tin-lap, Associate Professor of our School, was awarded HK$6.1 million for another collaborative project with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology named "Elucidating Genomic Signatures Associated with Age-related Decline in Oocyte Quality: From Molecular Mechanisms to Applications".

The CRF is served to encourage inter-institutional collaborative research across disciplines with a view to enhancing the research output of respective institutions. The result is indeed a remarkable achievement of the School, as the two projects led by our School members accounted for nearly 60% out of the three proposals funded in this exercise with CUHK being the coordinating institution. We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to Prof. Huang and Prof. Lee for their continued hard work and commitment in research.
