“Hello Hong Kong”, the team formed by students from the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme (BMS), School of Biomedical Sciences, beat 48 other teams from around the world to emerge as the winner of the 8th Annual APRU Global Health Virtual Case Competition 2023 in Mexico from 25 - 27 October 2023, and receive the prize of 1,000 US dollars.
Hello Hong Kong’s project aims to provide urban asylum seekers with healthcare and auxiliary services to bridge the gap between the medical system in their home country and that in their resettlement country. Their focus areas include education, medical assistance and a health passport campaign that provides asylum seekers with access to health resources.
Their video, “Health Connect, Your Haven for Healing: Bridging Barriers to Care: Reaching Asylum Seekers in Hong Kong SAR” was shown live at the APRU Global Health Conference 2023.
