Accompanied by the senior management of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), Mr. Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China and a seven-member delegation comprising head officials of various state’s departments paid a visit to CUHK on 14 April 2018. Apart from learning the latest development of CUHK, Mr. Chen and the delegation had a campus tour and visited the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS). During the visit, Mr. Chen also officiated and presented prizes at the Ceremony of Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards held on CUHK campus. Prof. Huang Yu, Associate Director (Research) and Prof. Tian Xiaoyu, Assistant Professor of SBS, together with two principle investigators of the School of Life Sciences were awarded the Second-class Awards in Natural Sciences. At the ceremony, Prof. Huang represented CUHK to give the awardee’s speech (Please see another report for the details of the award).
The State Ministry of Education (MOE) has been supporting CUHK and Hong Kongtertiary institutions to launch a wide range of collaboration projects with mainland China. Currently, CUHK has three MOE Key Laboratories, among which the Ministry of Education (MoE) Key Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine (The Chinese University of Hong Kong – Jinan University) is located at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.
