Further to the previous visits in February and May 2012, a group of delegates from Khon Kaen University, Thailand paid a follow-up visit to the School of Biomedical Sciences on 13 September 2012. Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, School Director and Prof. C.H. Cho, Associate Director (Research) met with the delegates to have further discussion on actualizing the planned academic exchange and research collaboration between the two parties.
During the visit, Prof. Chan signed on behalf of the School a Memorandum of Understanding with several universities and research institutes from Southeast Asia (including Malaysia, Philippine, Thailand, Vietnam) for becoming a member of the "ASIA-International Biomedical Science Consortium". Apart from promoting academic exchange and cooperation among students and faculty members, participating institutions will take turn to host international biomedical research conferences biennially under the framework of the Consortium.
